Bihar News: A news anchor from a media outlet based in Bihar and Jharkhand is facing severe criticism for laughing during a live television report about the severe flooding in the Bagmati River, causing extensive waterlogging in Darbhanga and other regions of Bihar.
News Anchor’s Bizzare reaction
The reason behind her unexpected laughter during the serious news coverage in the state remains unclear. It is suggested that she may have chuckled at her own mispronunciation of certain terms while relaying information about the incident, possibly from a teleprompter.
Uncut and unedited footage capturing the journalist’s laughter during her flood report has surfaced online, prompting a strong backlash against her. She can be heard saying, “Nepal se chode gaye paani ke chalte Darbhanga mein Bagmati… (laughs & coughs).”
Shortly after the incident, the female journalist issued an apology on-screen, saying, “Maaf keejiyega” (Please forgive me). However, in a separate segment of a comprehensive news report, the media handled the flooding issue responsibly. They covered the incident where a boat carrying approximately 30 children capsized in Bihar‘s Muzaffarpur district, resulting in 12 of them going missing.

A netizen wrote, “In madam ko live reporting karwana chahiye Bihar Flood pe bicho bhich baadh mey fir maza aayega.” Meanwhile, another wrote, “This anchor had to clear some old scores with the channel owner, so today she read the news laughing and joking about serious news like flood. The anchor was well aware that this would have a negative impact on the health of the news channel, and there were also chances of the channel owner losing his fortune.”
