Bihar News : Disintegration Threatens INDIA Bloc as Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Hints at BJP Alliance

Nitish Kumar

Bihar News: The INDIA bloc faces a potential collapse as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is reportedly considering an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This follows the recent decisions by Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, who opted to sever ties with the INDIA bloc and pursue solo endeavors in Bengal and Punjab.

Nitish Kumar’s Potential Alliance with BJP
Sources suggest that Nitish Kumar might make a last-minute shift and align with the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections. There are indications that he may share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally on February 4. The Bihar Chief Minister has reportedly called all his MLAs to Patna, indicating a significant political development.

Options for Nitish Kumar’s Party
Nitish Kumar’s party is facing a critical decision, with two potential options on the table. One is to dissolve the assembly and conduct simultaneous assembly elections with the Lok Sabha polls. Alternatively, they may allow Nitish Kumar to continue as Chief Minister, a move met with resistance from local party leaders. The party is adopting a wait-and-watch approach as events unfold in Nitish Kumar’s camp.

Political Dynamics and Assembly Composition
In the 243-member Bihar assembly, the majority mark is 122. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has 79 seats, and Nitish Kumar can potentially form a government with the BJP’s 82 seats and his Janata Dal United’s 45 seats. The dynamics of Bihar politics are evolving rapidly as the INDIA bloc faces internal challenges and potential realignments.
