A man in Bihar’s Gopalganj died after partaking in a “momo-eating challenge” with his friends on Thursday. Vipin Kumar Rawat was 23 years old and worked at a mobile repair shop. The father of deceased Vipin has alleged that the death of his son is ‘a conspiracy’ carried out by his friends.
‘Momo-eating challenge‘
On Thursday, Vipin went his business as usual in the mobile store he worked at. Later in the day he met his friends after closing on his day’s work. The friends challenged each other to a ‘momo-eating challenge’ to see who that who among them could eat the maximum number of dumplings. Paswan too engaged in the challenge given by his friends with a bet of 1000 rupees.
Bipin Kumar Paswan ate 150 momos in a stall at Gyani Mor of Siwan district. After consuming an excessive amount of momos, Bipin fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital immediately by his friends. The patient was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The body of the deceased Bipin has been sent for postmortem by the police.
Father alleges ‘a conspiracy’
Vipin was a resident of Sihorwa village under Thave block in Gopalganj district. Thave sation SHO said “Vipin ate a large number of momos after accepting a challenge with his friends. His friends took him to a private hospital after he fell unwell. The doctors there declared him dead.”
Meanwhile Vipin’s father has alleged ‘a conspiracy’ orchestrated by his friends. As per the family Vipin’s friends poisoned him and abandoned him near a hospital.
Vipin’s father Bishun Kumar Paswan told press “Two friends of Vipin took him away from his shop on Thursday on the pretext of eating momos. They poisoned and killed him. They did not even inform us about the death. Some people saw the body lying on the footpath and informed us.”
The SHO has stated the police is waiting for the results of post-mortem before investigating on the matter from different perspectives.
