Bihar caste survey: The caste-based census in the state must end immediately, the Nitish Kumar-led administration was told by the Patna High Court on Thursday. The high court additionally ordered the government to guarantee the security of the information it has already obtained. It stated that until the final decisions in the writ petition filed against the survey are made, the data shall not be shared with anyone.
BJP launched a harsh attack against the government
The state government was chastised by the division bench of Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran and Justice Madhuresh Prasad for not upholding the right to privacy, and they added: “We also see from the notification issued that the government intends to share the data with leaders of different parties of the state Assembly.” The opposition BJP launched a harsh attack against the government for creating a “defective policy” in response to the court order. Tarkishore Prasad, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, also criticised the government for failing to adequately submit its case before the court.

Bihar conducted the initial round of its caste survey
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari responded to the BJP’s criticism by saying that the Mahagathbandhan administration respects the stay imposed by the Patna High Court. Teachers, Anganwadi, MGNREGA, and Jeevika employees were among the survey participants.
