CM Mann welcomes Bhagat into AAP
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomes Bhagat into the AAP. On this occasion, Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural and AAP’s Punjab general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat were also present.
Bhagat was elected as the BJP candidate from the Jalandhar West assembly constituency twice, including in the state polls last year. He also served as the vice president of the BJP from 1998 to 2001 and then from 2017 to 2020.
Big blow to BJP!
AAP leader Harchand Singh Barsat called the development a ‘big blow to BJP’. “
BJP got a big blow when Mohinder Bhagat ji from Jalandhar got influenced by the policies of Aam Aadmi Party and joined the party under the leadership of Sardar@BhagwantMann. We heartily welcome him in the AAP family,” he said in a tweet.
Prior to Bhagat, Congress leader Sushil Kumar Rinku, who was the Congress candidate from the Jalandhar West during the 2022 Assembly elections, had joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. He has been named as the candidate for the Lok Sabha by-poll by the AAP.
Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary is the candidate for the byelection in Jalandhar for the Congress, while Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, who just joined the BJP after leaving the Akali Dal, has been chosen by the BJP.
