CBI files case against former Allahabad HC judge, wife over disproportion in assets

A corruption case has been filed against former Allahabad High Court judge and his wife. The husband-wife duo came under Central Bureau of Investigation’s radar after they were found to amass assets worth Rs 2.45 crore. This was in excess to his known source of income during his tenure as a High Court judge from 2014 to 2019. 

Corruption case against Allahabad HC judge

A case has been registered against Justice SN Shukla and his wife Suchita Tiwari for amassing assets disproportionate to his known income.

“CBI has registered a case against Justice SN Shukla, Retd Judge of the Allahabad HC and his wife Suchita Tiwari for allegedly amassing assets worth Rs 2.45 crore disproportionate to his known source of income during his tenure as the judge of the HC between 2014-19,” said investigating agency quoted by news agency ANI.

The case was filed in 2019 against the then sitting HC Judge SN Shukla, IM Quddusi, a retired Chhattisgarh High Court judge, and four others alleging they ruled a favourable order in exchange of money for medical college based in Lucknow. 

The CBI has revealed that SN Shukla’s asset included properties in the name of Shukla’s wife Suchita Tiwari, who has an income of Rs 40,000 per month.
