Cloud burst in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu leaves 1 dead and 3 injured, details

Cloudburst claims life of a person in Kullu.

On Monday morning around 4 AM, a cloud burst near Kayas village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh claimed life of one individual while 3 people got injured. The deceased Badal Sharma is a resident of Chansari village in Kullu district. The three injured have been identified as Suresh Sharma and Kapil from the same village of Chansari while Khem Chand belongs to Badogi village.

The incident occurred very early in the morning. As per reports all the victims were inside a car when it was washed away in the cloud burst. At least 2 vehicles and few houses were also washed away in cloudburst induced flashflood. The road is blocked on one side and it is being cleared by a JCB .

‘Orange Alert’

Since June 24 more than 53 landslides and around 40 flashfloods have struck the hill state.

The IMD had issued ‘Orange Alert’ for the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and tweeted that the states will record heavy rainfall on 16th and 17th July. The department had issued ‘Moderate to high risk’ conditions for occurrence of flashfloods in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmour.
