Kejriwal Gains Support from DMK and Prominent Leaders in Battle Against Centre’s Ordinance
Stalin had previously in the day responded, “That endeavour is already on,” when questioned about whether these conversations were related to organising the opposition. He highlighted that this was not a new development and gave the DMK his word that they would be fully participating. On June 1, the Delhi Chief Minister tweeted about the meeting: “Will be meeting Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin in Chennai to seek DMK’s support against Centre’s unconstitutional-undemocratic “Anti-Delhi” Ordinance.” Kejriwal has previously spoken with a number of powerful politicians, including Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav. On May 11, a five-judge constitution bench chaired by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud ruled in favour of the Delhi government, giving it control over the appointment and transfer of bureaucrats with the exception of public order, police, and land affairs. This decision follows a significant legal victory for Kejriwal.
