New Delhi: Due to a communication difficulty inside the 1.3 km long tunnel, a teenager hurt in a bike accident in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan tunnel passed away before reaching the hospital. Rajan Rai, 19, met with an accident within the tunnel on Monday night while travelling back from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, according to the police. The inability of bystanders to call the police in distress due to weak connectivity inside the tunnel delayed the arrival of the emergency services.
Delhi Teen’s Fatal Injuries Expose Safety Concerns
Rajan Rai’s helmet was entirely destroyed in the crash, resulting in severe head injuries. The teen was taken urgently to the Lady Hardinge Medical College, where, according to the authorities, he passed away while receiving treatment. Due of weak connectivity inside the tunnel, the victim’s family has now chosen to pursue legal action, according to reports.

Pragati Maidan Tunnel’s Impressive Traffic Management Features
The tunnel reportedly boasts features for easy traffic flow, including a sophisticated fire management system, digitally controlled CCTVs, etc. The main tunnel and five underpasses comprise the 1.3 km long Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor Project, which was officially opened last year.
