Congress: D K Suresh, a party MP and the brother of Karnataka state Congress president D K Shivakumar, announced that D K Shivakumar would travel to Delhi on Tuesday to meet with party leaders to discuss the formation of the state’s government.
Siddaramaiah arrives in Delhi for talks with Congress leadership
The Congress leadership invited the two front-runners for the position of chief minister, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, to Delhi on Monday for talks amidst intensive lobbying for the position. Despite Shivakumar’s last-minute cancellation of his travel due to health reasons, Siddaramaiah arrived in Delhi on Monday afternoon.
Congress leader D K Shivakumar to meet party leaders in Delhi
After meeting party leader Mallikarjun Kharge at his apartment later that evening, Congress MP D K Suresh of Bengaluru Rural informed reporters that his brother would be travelling to Delhi on Tuesday. In answer to a query from reporters, D K Suresh stated, “Yes, he will be arriving tomorrow.” The Congress Legislature Party permitted party president Kharge to choose its leader, who will serve as the chief minister, at its meeting on Sunday in Bengaluru. After a stunning comeback in Karnataka, where the Congress won 135 of the 224 seats, the party now has the difficult task of choosing the chief minister.
