DK Shivakumar :During a roadshow on Tuesday, DK Shivakumar, the head of the Karnataka Congress, was spotted throwing cash at the throng. In a video, Mr. Shivakumar can be seen campaigning in Bevinahalli in the Mandya district and throwing 500 rupee bills from the roof of a bus. The Congress “Praja Dhwani Yatra” that Mr. Shivakumar was undertaking was in preparation for the Karnataka election.
The JDS won seven seats in the district in the 2018 election
Mr. Shivakumar, who is thought to be the Congress’ chief ministerial candidate, is actively campaigning in Mandya, which is thought to be a stronghold of the influential Vokkaliga population. The Congress leader, a Vokkaliga, is working to expand the party’s support base in Mandya, which is thought to be a stronghold of the Janata Dal (Secular). The JDS won seven seats in the district in the 2018 election. For the 224-member assembly, the Congress has announced 124 candidates in its first list.

BJP is represented with 121 seats
In the current Karnataka assembly, the BJP is represented with 121 seats. While the JDS has 30, the Congress has 70. Since the BJP failed to win a majority in 2018, the Congress and the JDS established a government. In 2019, the BJP formed a government with the help of dissident MLAs, several of whom went on to become ministers, following widespread resignations from the Congress and JDS.
