Karnataka Election 2023: The political platform for the May 10 Karnataka elections, titled “Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota” (Peaceful Garden of All Communities), was released by the Congress party on Tuesday. In the presence of former Union minister P Chidambaram, chair of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee DK Shivakumar, and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, the manifesto was unveiled in Bengaluru by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Commitments would be carried out in the first cabinet meeting-Kharge
The menifesto promises “expansion of one pension programme” like it did in Himachal Pradesh and places a strong emphasis on women and young people. Additionally, the party pledged to increase reservations for scheduled castes. In its election manifesto, the manifesto reaffirmed five promises: Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, Anna Bhagya, Yuva Nidhi, and Shakti. Speaking at the occasion, Kharge stated that the commitments would be carried out in the first cabinet meeting following the formation of the government.

Main points of the Congress manifesto
- 200 units of free power are promised by Gruha Jyothi.
- Each woman head of family receives Rs 2,000 from Gruha Lakshmi.
- 10 kilogrammes of food grains have been promised under Anna Bhagya.
- If elected to power, Yuva Nidhi will provide unemployed graduates with Rs 3,000 per month and unemployed diploma holders with Rs 1,500 per month.
- Everyone who rides a regular bus operated by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation or the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation is free to do so.
- To raise the reservation percentage for Scheduled Tribes (SC) from 15% to 17%.
- To pursue inclusion in the Constitution’s 9th Schedule, enhance reservations for Lingayats, Vokkaliggas, and other communities, and restore the minority reservation percentage of 4%.
- Within a year of taking office, the party promises to repeal all unjust laws and other anti-people legislation passed by the current BJP administration.
