Consent is Holy! Mumbai and UP police remind citizens of the importance of what it means during Holi celebrations

Holi 2023: A very important factor that should never be taken for granted is consent. That counts, whether it’s in a romantic relationship or when celebrating holidays like Holi. The police departments in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh (UP) recently reminded the public of this on social media. At the festival of colours, they discussed how “consent matters” in posts they posted.

Consent is Key, A Reminder for Holi Celebrations

“Colour with Consent cause #HolyHai! Have a happy & safe Holi, Mumbai,” Mumbai Police Department wrote on Instagram. They also exchanged a stunning piece of art. The text “Consent is Holy” is written across a completely black background in the image.

Keeping Holi Safe and Respectful through Consent

The Uttar Pradesh Police Department also posted on Instagram.“Wishing a happy #Holi to all! Remember that consent is the key to keeping the festival vibrant. If you experience any harassment or assault, #Dial112 for police assistance,” they wrote. They also shared their creativity that shows “Balam pichkari jo ‘without consent’ mujhe maari, toh 1090 pe calling ho gayi.”
