Cyclone Biparjoy: After the arrival of the Biparjoy storm in Rajasthan, the heavy rains have begun in Barmer. The besieged community is being evacuated by administrative teams. The areas most at risk from the storm are Sirohi, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Pali, and Jaisalmer. Barmer is experiencing torrential rain. The collectorate and surrounding roads are flooded as a result of the recent heavy rains. On-site rescue efforts have begun by SDRF. The Barmer government has issued a warning. The village is being evacuated by rescue teams.
Relief Camps, Transportation, and Exams Postponed
The establishment of poverty relief camps in the Jodhpur division has been delayed due to the threat posed by cyclone Bipar Joy. The district administration has postponed the inflation relief camps that were scheduled to take place in Jaipur district on June 17. Campaign camps and administration cities were also postponed until June 17 along with administration villages. The directives have been given by Additional District Collector (South), Mohammad Abubakr. For the time being, trains from Gujarat and Barmer to Jodhpur have been cancelled. The passenger train running between Barmer and Jodhpur has also been suspended by Railways. All of the exams that were scheduled to be given on June 16 and 17 in the cyclone-affected districts have been postponed by Jodhpur University. For the next two days, visitors are not permitted inside the Ranakpur Jain temple in the Pali district. The next two days will likewise see Jhalawar Mandi shuttered. On June 18, which follows June 16 and June 17, there will be a weekly holiday. Only after assessing the weather on June 19 will the market be opened.

Residents of Barmer District Moved to Safer Locations as Cyclone Threatens Indo-Pak Border Villages
Five villages in the Barmer district, which is close to the Indo-Pak border, have had almost 5000 residents moved to safer locations. Arun Purohit, the collector for Barmer District, stated that the district faces crucial and difficult circumstances during the next 36 hours. People from the villages of Bakhasar, Sedwa Chauhtan, Ramsar, and Dhorimna have been relocated to safer areas. Additionally, 450 residents of Jaisalmer’s Dabla village have been relocated. Additionally prohibited are MNREGA job and dearness relief camps, campaign camps, administration villages, and administration cities.
