As it brews over the Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Michaung is predicted to make landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon between Nellore and Machilipatnam, with winds as high as 100 kmph.
As of now, the Michaung cyclonic storm is over the Southwest Bay of Bengal. By Monday afternoon, it is expected to continue coming northwest, intensify even more, and approach the West Central Bay of Bengal off the beaches of South Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring North Tamil Nadu.
On Tuesday, it would cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam as a “severe cyclonic storm,” with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90–100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph. It would then move nearly northwards, almost parallel and close to the coast.
