Damoh Katni Road Accident: A tragic accident was witnessed on the afternoon of Tuesday in Samanna village, Madhya Pradesh which falls under the Dehat police station area of the Damoh-Katni State Highway. The truck ran over the passenger auto, and one lost seven people while three were seriously injured. The identities of passengers in the auto cannot be disclosed yet.
Immediate Response by Authorities
Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar and SP Shrut Kirti Somvanshi immediately managed the situation after the accident, as they ensured that injured persons would be provided with primary medical aid. There is a specific corridor from Damoh to Jabalpur Medical College with pilot and follow vehicles so that nothing came in the way of the flow of ambulances. This helped ensure that the treatment process of injured persons accelerated as much as possible and they reached medical facilities as soon as possible.
As soon as the mishap was intimated, teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other local officials reached the spot. They made hectic efforts to retrieve the auto stuck under the truck with the support of a crane. The dead bodies were immediately rushed to the district hospital for body survey, and there, five persons were declared brought dead. The other three injured persons were referred to Jabalpur Medical College since their injury conditions were serious.
Tragic Collision Claims Seven Lives
CM Mohan Yadav Tweeted, ” The mind is saddened by the tragic news of the death of many precious lives in a collision between a truck and an auto on the Damoh-Katni State Highway under Damoh district. Instructions have been given to take strict action against those who were negligent in this horrific road accident. I pray to Almighty God to give a place to the departed souls in his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this lightning strike. The state government has given instructions to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹ 50,000 to the injured. We all are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that the auto was registered locally and therefore the occupants most likely hailed from the neighborhood. The police are keen on the immediate treatment of the injured to ensure their survival. In the latest report, authorities have arrested the truck driver; his name is Neeraj Singh Lodhi, 22, a resident of Buxwaha in Chhatarpur district.
Reports said that he was found drunk at the time of accident, though now he is under medical examination at the district hospital. Because of his intoxication, he was unable to give a proper statement. The auto driver has been identified as Alok Gupta, son of late Gauri Shankar Gupta from Civil Ward-2, Purana Thana. Damoh MP Rahul Singh has also visited the hospital to take stock of the whole situation and to address the families of victims.
