Dehradun News: Doon Medical College organized the eye donation campaign and encouraged people to donate eyes so that blind people will be able to see. The Camp also aims to encourage people about the importance of donating eyes. A Signature campaign was also organized during the campaign in which many people signed up for donating their eyes. Principal of the Doon Medical College discussed the ways and importance of eye donation and how it helps others see if someone donates eyes. The Hospital also performs surgery for people who are blind and get eyesight through someone else’s eyes. With the help of New Technology, transplantation of two corneas from one eye is done in the Hospital.

Over 10 lakh people suffer from Corneal Blindness

The Ophthalmology Department Head said that over 10 lakh people in India are suffering from corneal blindness and waiting for Corneal Transplant so that they will be able to see. Eye Donation camp is a great platform for people to know the value of donating eyes and also encourage them to donate eyes after deaths

Corneal damage can occur due to many reasons’

Donation of cornea can be done within few hours, which can lighten someone else’s life. Corneal damage can occur due to many reasons like eye flue, use of fire crackers during Diwali. This is why people need to donate their eyes so that it can help others see.
