Dehradun News: Plans are in motion to provide education to 454 children in the Dehradun district who are currently not attending school. Additionally, the education department intends to develop a strategy to reduce children’s dependence on mobile phones and engage them in sports activities, which will involve enhancing sports facilities in schools and constructing new playgrounds.
Big steps taken in district meeting
During a district-level steering committee meeting at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate, DM Sonika emphasised the need for 100% enrollment of children in compulsory education, with a focus on providing vocational education. Furthermore, it was mentioned that after 12 months of specialized training, these children would be admitted to nearby schools.
The meeting also highlighted the commencement of a door-to-door survey in areas beyond Dehradun city, including Raipur, Sahaspur, Vikasnagar, and Doiwala development blocks. The meeting was attended by several officials, including Chief Education Officer Pradeep Rawat, District Program Officer Child Development Jitendra Kumar, Block Education Officer Manju Bharti from Doiwala, VP Singh from Vikasnagar, as well as Pallavi Jain, Pooja Negi, Incharge BRC Sunil Kumar from Sahaspur, Deputy Education Officer Premlata Bharti from Raipur, and Rakesh Sharma, among others.
