Dehradun News: Despite so many awareness campaigns launched by the Cyber Police all across the country, the cyber crime incidents refuse to die down. If we look at the data provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Over 1500 cyber crime cases are reported in India everyday. This time 3 different cases of cyber theft reported from Dehradun where the victims lost over 5 lakhs. The victims shared their personal data with anonymous callers and lost huge amount of money.
Precautions to avoid Cyber Crime:
- Use different password for different accounts
- Secure your Mobile device
- Do not share Personal Information on calls
- Never share any OTP with unknown people
- Block suspicious or spam callers in your device and PC.
- Call 1930 immediately for assistance
‘Victims were robbed on the pretext of earning money’
The three separate incidents are reported from Patelnagar, Dalanwala and Kotwali area. In the first incident, a man from Dalawala was robbed off over 1.96 lakhs when the accused took his Bank information on a call. In the second incident, the victim lost over 1.42 lakhs after becoming a victim in an online scam. The third incident is reported from Kotwali Police station when a man lost over 73000 when he came into contact with the accused through whatsapp on the pretext of an investment scheme.
‘People have to be cautious while sharing information on calls’
The SSP said that they are trying to search the details of all the suspect and accused with the help of the information given by the victim. We also request all not to share their personal information with anonymous callers no matter what. People need to be more cautious as the net of the cyber crime is spreading rapidly.
