Dehradun News: Following severe rains, the Uttarakhand government on Tuesday authorised Rs 450 crores for a two-month effort to repair damaged roads throughout the state. Following an important meeting earlier this week, a deadline of November 30 was established for finishing the patchwork of the state’s damaged roadways. To ensure that the repairs are finished by November 30, all district magistrates have been instructed to undertake a special campaign between October 1 and that date.
Government’s Two-Month Deadline
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi stated that the authorities have been given two months to ensure that the roads are free of potholes at a review meeting. “During this period, the departmental seniors need to keep an eye on the work done and also ensure that quality work is done,” she said. The DMs have been instructed to submit their recommendations as soon as possible. In the meantime, an allocation of Rs 300 crore has been made for installing crash barriers in the hill areas.
Road Rehabilitation Projects in Ludhiana
Along with the rehabilitation of Kirpal Nagar road, which will cost Rs 84 lakhs, building of a road in the Sunder Nagar neighbourhood of Ludhiana has started. Both locals and the hosiery industry are intended to gain from these efforts. MLA Ashok Prashar has urged officials to speed up the work while maintaining quality. In other stories, Ludhiana’s Model Town gole market road repair has been delayed owing to rain, and poor quality repairs of potholes in Nagpur have aroused worries.
Rain-Related Road Repair Delays in Ludhiana and Kolkata
Heavy rains have impeded the rehabilitation of the road in Ludhiana’s Model Town Gole Market, worrying store owners who worry that the wet surface may weaken the road. The weather has been a challenge, despite promises from the chairman of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) that timely and high-quality repairs would be made. There had previously been a delay in the road repair work, which prompted a complaint to the Punjab State Human Rights Commission. Meanwhile, vehicles in Salt Lake, Kolkata, are inconvenienced by the bad condition of the roads caused by the constant rain.
Trichy Corporation’s Initiatives to Repair Rain-Damaged Roads
The Trichy Corporation has committed to repairing recent rain damage to new roads in the city’s outlying wards. It is thought that seepage from drinking water pipelines is what caused the damage. Before the start of the northeast monsoon, the firm intends to perform short-term strengthening work. The engineering department has been ordered to reinforce the damaged residential roadways since residents have identified specific impacted sites. The neighbourhood organisation has also stepped its citywide road repair efforts.
