Delhi Budget 2024: Atishi, the finance minister of Delhi, unveiled the ₹76,000 crore budget to the state parliament on Monday. It is for the fiscal year 2024–25. She suggested allocating ₹16,396 crore for the education sector in her first budget address.
Atishi Praises CM’s Trustworthiness and Thumping Majority
“Arvind Kejriwal has emerged as a ray of hope for the people of Delhi. People of Delhi have trusted him because of his honesty and have made him the CM with a thumping majority. All the legislators who are present here are inspired by Lord Ram, and that’s why we have taken a ‘sanklap’ to fulfill the dream of ‘Ram Rajya’ in Delhi,” says Delhi finance minister Atishi as quoted by news agency PTI.
The Delhi Assembly’s budget session began on February 15 and was prolonged to March 8, 2024. This may have been the longest national capital assembly meeting ever by the AAP-run administration. Gehlot presented a budget for 2023 with the theme “Clean, beautiful, and modern” Delhi. The infrastructure of the city was allocated Rs 21,000 crore in the Delhi Budget for 2023.
Finance Minister Praises Government Initiatives in Budget
Atishi, the finance minister for Delhi, praised the AAP government’s work for the people during her budget statement on Monday. She listed several initiatives and programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of Delhi residents.
She asserted that there have been significant changes between 2014 and 2024, citing Delhi’s expanding economy, doubling of per capita income, children’s schools, infrastructure, and free medical care for the underprivileged.
