Delhi CM Announces No NOC Required for Power Connections in Unauthorised Colonies

The delay not only caused hardships but also led to widespread complaints of corruption, as residents had to pay bribes to secure NOCs.

Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced that residents of the 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi will no longer need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to obtain electricity connections. This move comes after residents faced struggles and bribery issues for over a year due to the central government’s order requiring NOCs.

Resolving a Year of Challenges

Atishi pointed out that, over the past year, many residents struggled to get power connections in these colonies because of the DDA’s directive. The delay not only caused hardships but also led to widespread complaints of corruption, as residents had to pay bribes to secure NOCs.

New Orders for DISCOMs

The Delhi government has now issued clear orders to power distribution companies (DISCOMs) to provide electricity meters without the need for an NOC, ensuring that residents can easily access basic utilities without bureaucratic obstacles. This step is expected to provide relief to millions of residents and improve living conditions in unauthorised colonies across the city.
