CM Arvind Kejriwal: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, said on Sunday that all ministers and the mayor will examine regions where people are experiencing difficulties due to waterlogging after heavy rain in the nation’s capital. He added that the Sunday holiday for all officers has been cancelled and that all officers have been told to be on the ground. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light to moderate rainfall for today, thus Delhi awoke to more rain on Sunday.
Chief Minister Takes Swift Action as Monsoon Rainfall Sets Records
‘Yesterday, 126 mm of rain fell over Delhi. In just 12 hours, 15% of the monsoon season’s total rainfall was recorded. Due to water logging, people were really upset. Today, the mayor of Delhi and all of the ministers will tour the trouble spots. All departments’ officers have been told to forgo Sunday off and report to duty,’ the CM tweeted. This comes after the first round of intense monsoon rain on Saturday wrecked havoc in the national capital’s residential and business districts by flooding roads, overflowing drains, and paralysing traffic for hours.
