Arvind Kejriwal, the convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Chief Minister, protested on Thursday that DTC bus drivers were failing to stop their vehicles for female passengers even though the Delhi government’s free bus ride programme for women using public transportation made it unnecessary for them to do so.
Strongly Reacts to Complaints of Bus Drivers Ignoring Women Passengers
Kejriwal tweeted about it, saying, “Complaints are coming in about some drivers not stopping buses when they spot women passengers because women’s travel is free. This will not be accepted in any way. The bus driver is facing serious consequences.” Kailash Gahlot, the minister of transport for Delhi, retweeted Kejriwal’s post and added that the driver had been removed and was no longer on duty until further instructions.
