Delhi Pollution: On Thursday and Friday night, there was some light rain in various sections of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and the neighbouring districts of the National Capital Region (NCR). This precipitation provided much-needed relief from the hazardous air quality.
Unexpected Rainfall in Key Areas
Light to moderate-intensity rain showers were visible in the images from the Kartavya Path, ITO, and the Delhi-Noida border, causing an abrupt change in the weather. Against 400+ last night, several air monitoring stations in Delhi registered an AQI of less than 100 in the “good” category. Punjabi Bagh (91), Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium (99), and the US Embassy in New Delhi (93). Connaught Place’s air quality index (AQI) increased as well, scoring 85 in the “good” range.
Delhi’s Anticipated Weather Intervention
The unexpected downpours fell in line with the Delhi government’s intention to use cloud seeding to create artificial rain on 20–21 November in an effort to reduce the city’s extreme air pollution. In order to guarantee the execution of anti-pollution measures, the Delhi government has also sent out ministers.
