Milestones Achieved, Inauguration by PM Modi, and Challenges Ahead
The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project includes this component. The security clearance was obtained last week, according to representatives of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is in charge of overseeing the development of the rapid train service. This train will soon be flagged off by the prime minister, Narendra Modi. This train is anticipated to travel at a speed of 160 kmph as it approaches the Duhai Depot. This will be the first railway system in the nation to be operationally open for such a short period of time. The 42 kilometre long bridge connecting Sahibabad to Meerut South station has also been finished, according to a report from ET. An official stated that after this, construction on the 25 km-long segment after the Duhai depot would begin. Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South are the four stations. Rapid train construction work began in June 2019. According to an official, June 2025 has been set aside for the commissioning of the complete 82.15 kilometre long route with metro services in Meerut. The estimated price to prepare it is 30,274 crores. Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and New Development Bank (NDB) are the funding sources for RRTS. The government has predicted that there will be 800,000 travellers per day. However, despite the large number of people, it is anticipated that passenger income would continue to be disturbed. There may be many more difficulties besides the rent.
