Arvind Kejriwal: Gopal Rai, a minister in Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, asserted on Friday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s family is under “house arrest.” When the Delhi Minister reached the AAP leader’s home, he inquired as to why he was not allowed to meet Arvind Kejriwal’s family.
Allegations of House Arrest
“I have come here to meet his family but they have been put under house arrest. Under which law am I being stopped from meeting his family?” Rai told reporters. He went on to say that Arvind Kejriwal had consistently worked for the Delhi community. With permission, Rai was finally able to pay the family a visit.
Display of Support
In the meantime, supporters of the Delhi Chief Minister gathered in front of the AAP headquarters. Outside the AAP office, demonstrators have gathered to show support for the Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party, stated during a press conference earlier today that this is the first time the central government has detained a sitting chief minister.
Unprecedented Arrest
“It is the first time that a sitting CM has been arrested by the central government. Even the Jharkhand Chief Minister resigned before his arrest. In the country’s history, it is the first time that, after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the national convenor of a national party has been arrested. Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest is the BJP’s political conspiracy,” Atishi said.
