Delhi NCR Weather Update:: A sharp drop in temperatures is on the horizon for the national capital, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a plunge to around 3°C starting December 10. This marks the onset of a cold wave that will sweep through Delhi and the northern plains, including Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh, until December 14.

Cold Wave to Intensify

Currently, Delhi’s minimum temperature hovers around 7°C, but chilling winds combined with snowfall in the northern hills and a Western Disturbance could further drive the mercury down. Light showers are also forecast for December 8 and 9, adding to the wintry spell.

Dense Fog Alert

Dense fog is expected across northern India on December 9 and 10, likely causing significant visibility issues. This could impact road, rail, and air travel, making it crucial for commuters to plan accordingly.

Northern Plains Already Feeling the Chill

Haryana’s Hisar has already recorded a low of 4.7°C, signaling the arrival of colder days ahead. Similar conditions are likely to extend to other parts of the region.

Precautions Advised

Residents are urged to stay warm and exercise caution, particularly during early mornings and late evenings when the cold is most severe. Travellers should monitor weather updates to avoid disruptions caused by fog or icy conditions.

This cold wave is expected to be one of the sharpest dips in temperatures so far this season, underscoring the need for preparedness across affected areas.
