Delhi News: The Delhi Metro decided on Monday to switch the Delhi Aerocity–Tughlakabad Metro corridor’s colour designation from silver to golden. The decision was made because the golden tint can be seen more clearly and conspicuously on the trains than the silver colour, according to the metro authority.
Golden Color Visibility
“The decision has been taken since the golden colour can be displayed more prominently and clearly on the trains rather than silver, which tends to get mixed with the overall silvery texture of the stainless steel body of the Metro trains. Therefore, the selection of ‘golden’ as the colour code would ensure better visibility on trains and will be more convenient for the passengers,” the DMRC said in a release.
In order to make passenger identification easier, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has color-coded differences throughout its operational corridors. The colour code of each individual corridor is indicated by a defined coloured strip that is prominently displayed on the train bodies.
Phase 4 of Delhi Metro
“The Aerocity–Tughlakabad Metro corridor of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 will be 23.62 kilometers long with 15 stations. This corridor will connect the Kashmere Gate – Raja Nahar Singh Violet Line with the Airport Express Line and will provide connectivity to many new areas in the southern part of the national capital. This corridor is expected to be made operational by March 2026,” the press release included more details on the new metro area.
Ongoing Priority Projects
Three priority lines totaling 65 km are presently being worked on by Delhi Metro. It is anticipated that the 12.3-kilometer Pink Line—which runs from Majlis Park to Maujpur—will open for business in March 2025. Concurrently, the segments of the Aerocity to Tughlakabad (Silver Line) and Janakpuri West to RK Ashram (Magenta Line) are expected to be finished by March 2026.
