Delhi News: Delhi Imposes Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

Delhi News— In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering Delhi from 5 p.m. on Monday, as rehearsals get underway. Gurugram Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Virendra Vij issued an advisory highlighting the new traffic restrictions and security measures implemented across the city.

The restrictions, which will affect all heavy goods vehicles, are scheduled from 5 p.m. on Monday until 12 p.m. on Tuesday. Additionally, a similar ban will be enforced from 5 p.m. on Wednesday to 12 p.m. on Thursday, prohibiting heavy vehicle entry into Delhi during these times. Despite the restrictions, there will be no limitations on vehicles carrying essential goods such as milk, fruits, vegetables, ambulances, and fire brigades.

DCP Vij emphasized that passenger vehicles heading to the airport from NH 48 will remain unaffected by these restrictions. Furthermore, vehicles traveling from Gurugram to other districts, including Palwal, Mewat, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Rewari, and Rajasthan, will not face any restrictions.

Entry of heavy goods vehicles into Delhi via National Highway 48 and other routes will be entirely banned. To enforce these measures, 15 checkpoints will be set up across the city, with 240 police personnel deployed to ensure thorough inspection and security.

Security Measures and Public Safety

The Gurugram Traffic Police have taken these precautionary steps to enhance security and manage traffic congestion during the Independence Day festivities. The strategic deployment of police personnel at checkpoints aims to monitor and manage the flow of vehicles, ensuring a safe environment for all citizens.

Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan Launched

Alongside these measures, the district also launched the “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan” on Sunday, under the slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The Women and Child Development Department, along with the Panchayat and Development Department, organized Tiranga Yatras in various villages, including Bilaspur Kalan, Bastpur, Nanukla, Tikli, Sakatpur, Bhoda Khurd, Tajnagar, Makdola, Sadrana, Pataudi, Farukhnagar, Sohna, Samarthala, and Neemoth.

These yatras witnessed enthusiastic participation from Anganwadi workers, Panchayat representatives, women from self-help groups, and local residents. Participants proudly carried the national flag and chanted slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Vande Mataram,” and “Jai Hind.”

Celebrating National Pride

The Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan is part of a broader initiative to promote national pride and unity. The campaign encourages citizens to display the national flag at their homes and public places, fostering a sense of patriotism and solidarity among the people.

As the nation gears up to celebrate its Independence Day, the Gurugram Traffic Police and local authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and smooth functioning of all planned events. Citizens are advised to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to the traffic guidelines for a peaceful and successful celebration.
