Delhi News

Delhi News: Doctors and other health professionals discussed the dangerous effects of air pollution on human health as the bad air quality in Delhi-NCR persists. In an interview with ANI, Dr. Piyush Ranjan, an additional professor in the AIIMS department of medicine, stated that there is scientific proof linking several forms of cancer to air pollution.

Beyond Respiratory Impact

In addition, he mentioned that in addition to damaging the lungs, air pollution is directly linked to coronary artery disorders such as arthritis, heart attacks, and strokes. “It is important to understand that air pollution affects various systems of the body, apart from causing respiratory diseases. Pollution has direct relations with coronary artery diseases like heart attack, brain stroke, and arthritis. We have scientific evidence that establishes its relationship with different types of cancer,” the AIIMS doctor said.

Public Health Alert

The specialists alert the public to a serious health issue while simultaneously cautioning against negative repercussions on the foetus. According to medical professionals, if air pollution is not managed with caution, it can cause anxiety in people of all ages and harm the brain and heart. Significantly, according to the System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research (SAFAR-India), Delhi’s air quality stayed in the “Severe” category on Sunday for the fourth straight day, despite a little decrease in the Air Quality Index (AQI), which was recorded at 410 on Sunday as opposed to 504 on Saturday.

SAFAR-India’s Alarming Data

SAFAR-India data indicates that the air quality in the Delhi University region is 456 (Severe), while it was reported at 385 (Very Poor) in the Lodhi Road area. Doctors advise that a healthy person’s AQI should be less than 50, but these days, it has risen to 400, which puts people at danger of lung cancer and could be fatal for those with lung-related illnesses.
