Delhi News: The Yamuna river in Delhi crossed the danger mark and remained over 208 meters for a period of 2 days leading to floods in major parts of the city. Army was called into to repair the broken flow regulator at drain no. 12 which had led to flooding in center parts of Delhi. The water level Hathnikund Barrage has receded and is expected to decline further with passing time.
Delhi PWD Minister Atishi Singh has raised question that why water from Barrage was diverted only to Delhi and not towards Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. “It is a big question why all the water from Hathnikund Barrage was being released only for Delhi. Not a single drop of water was released into the canals going to UP and Haryana from there. Haryana will have to answer for this” minister told ANI.
‘Aam Aadmi Party tries to evade its duties’
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj had said “There is a conspiracy by the central and Haryana governments to flood Delhi.” After comments from Atishi, Haryana Agriculture Minister, Jai Parkash Dalal said Aam Party is blaming others for their own failure as illegal constructions were responsible for water rise in Delhi.
“Aam Aadmi Party tries to evade its duties… The water flow increased earlier as well but, the Yamuna basin was broad earlier, now illegal possessions and constructions are done alongside the Yamuna which led to its shrinking and high water level.” He further stated that the main reason behind sinking of Delhi is illegal possessions.
