According to an official order from the MCD, all Pre School, Pre Primary, and Primary classes (Nursery to Class V) are to discontinue in physical form on November 3 and 4, with teachers conducting classes in online mode. The move aims to protect students from the harmful effects of air pollution.

In addition to school closures, the Delhi government has imposed restrictions on non-essential construction work in Delhi-NCR and has limited the entry of diesel trucks into the national capital as part of stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) under the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). These measures were taken in response to concerns from the CAQM about escalating pollution levels in Delhi due to unfavorable meteorological and climatic conditions.

The persistent smoky haze has led to severe air quality in many areas of Delhi, and doctors have warned of increased respiratory problems. Scientists have also cautioned about the potential for further pollution increases in Delhi-NCR over the next two weeks.
