Haryana Violence: Communal unrest shook Nuh in Haryana on July 31, with subsequent spillover into Gurugram. The violence led to six fatalities, extensive shop vandalism, and prolonged clashes.
In the midst of the turmoil, a remarkable bond between two individuals from disparate communities in Nuh remains steadfast. Pandit Ram Murthy Shastri, a Hindu priest at a Malab village temple, and Zubair, a Muslim farmer, have upheld their 13-year friendship. The duo defies the prevailing tensions, continuing their daily routine of shopping together on a motorcycle.
Zubair dismisses the disturbances as politically motivated, asserting that they don’t affect their friendship. He stands by the belief that the turmoil is merely a political construct. Conversely, Ram Murthy expresses his camaraderie with Zubair, highlighting that communalism won’t rupture their bond. He underscores the regularity of their visits to the village temple, emphasizing his numerous Muslim friendships.
Both Ram Murthy and Zubair remark that the recent violence is an anomaly in Nuh’s history. The clashes ensued after a mob targeted a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, resulting in six casualties including two home guards and a cleric.
