Fazilka: Slating the fortnightly long celebrations to welcome New Year 2023, District Administration Fazilka has taken a unique and worth emulating initiative of launching a cleanliness drive. To begin with, the cleanliness of Pratap Bagh has been done today. It is worthwhile here to mention that the campaign got a fillip as It was joined by local MLA Narinderpal Singh Savana with Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal.
Oath to maintain cleanliness
Before launching the drive, MLA Fazilka Narinderpal Singh Sawna and Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal also administered an oath to the participants to maintain cleanliness. Meanwhile, the sanitary employees were also honoured for performing good services during the cleaning duty. To sensitise the residents to dispose of domestic waste by converting it into compost, fertilizer packets made from wet waste were also distributed. Apart from this, in view of the winter and foggy season, Municipal Council Fazilka also started putting belts around the necks of the animals so that the animals are seen from a distance during the fog at night, to avoid any accident.
To make the efforts of the Chief Minister to transform the state into “Rangla Punjab”, fruitful, the initiatives being taken by the district administration Fazilka are appreciable, said MLA Savna.
Besides, flagging off door to door garbage collection vehicles as a part of New Year Celebrations, MLA Fazilka and the Deputy Commissioner themselves cleaned the road by holding brooms.
Keeping surrounding tidy our first priority: MLA Narinder Pal Singh
MLA Fazilka Narinder Pal Singh Savna said that cleanliness was very important for all of us to keep our surroundings tidy and healthy. He said that the Baghwant Mann led government was very concerned about the health of the people. He said that if we keep our surroundings clean and tidy it would ultimately help to create a disease-free environment. MLA Fazilka said that the purpose of starting this fortnight is to sensitise everyone towards cleanliness, so that every person understands his/her responsibility to contribute to improve the beautification of the city. He called upon the residents to clean the area in front of their homes to help making the drive successful.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal said that it was our prime duty to keep the city clean. She said that to provide a clean and hygienic environment to all is a part of our responsibility towards society. She said that under the fortnight, priority will be given to cleanliness, repair of non-functional street lights and removal of illegal encroachments.
She said that considering the convenience of the people, the vehicles prepared by the Municipal Council Fazilka for door-to-door garbage collection will knock the doors of every household and it’s our responsibility to keep the wet and dry waste segregated. She appealed to the people to come forward to make this drive successful by supporting the sanitation workers in ensuring cleanliness.
