Income Tax Office Delhi

Concerns surrounding the fire incident at its CR Building in ITO, New Delhi were addressed by the Income Tax department. The department informed the public that no taxpayer-related data was lost in the fire, despite the tragic death of an Office Superintendent.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Now that the fire has been stopped, the income tax department said that it started in room 325 and the surrounding spaces, which were mostly utilised for administrative purposes. To determine the cause of the fire, however, investigations are still underway.

Prompt Response and Evacuation

In order to control the fire, the Income Tax department moved quickly, coordinating an emergency evacuation and calling in fire brigades right away. The official who was trapped was not able to be saved due to the strong smoke.

No Damage to Physical Records

The agency has underlined the comforting fact that no tangible records have been harmed. The main reason for this is that most income tax returns are filed online, and associated processes are carried out digitally.
