MCD Schools: The first group of 50 principals from schools managed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be sent to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad on Thursday, according to education minister Atishi. The development comes a day after Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal declared that IIMs would train principals of MCD schools. “MCD schools top priority for AAP,” the chief minister had declared.
‘To ensure best training to teachers’
Atishi said that the best training is needed for teachers to ensure they further train the students in the most efficient manner. “In order to impart the best quality education to our children, we need to impart the best quality training to our teachers and principals,” Atishi said, adding that the unique training program will begin on Thurday. “These principals will be trained by renowned professors in school leadership and management,” she said.
MCD schools neglected for past 15 years
Children from kindergarten to Class 5 frequently struggle with fundamental reading and writing skills, the Delhi minister said, adding that MCD schools have been ignored for the past 15 years when BJP was in power. She added that similar training have been provided to vice-principals and principals in Delhi government schools in the last few years to ensure quality education.
Plans to send teachers abroad for training
In addition to the training at IIMs, plans to send these teachers abroad for further training are in place, according to Delhi mayor Shelly Oberoi. According to Oberoi, “it is essential for teachers to have cutting-edge educational capabilities and for principals to display excellent management talents.
