Ghaziabad News: A flood alert has been issued in the Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad districts in Uttar Pradesh amid the rise in the water level of the Hindon River. Despite no rain for one week in Delhi-NCR, the water level of the Hindon River is swelling due to discharge from Hathnikund Barrage, following heavy rains in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Flood-like situation in Ghaziabad, Noida
On Saturday night, after the water from the Hindon River entered various houses along the banks in Noida and Ghaziabad, an alert was issued by the police, further undertaking precautionary measures. As per media reports, over 1000 people have been evacuated from inundated areas.
“From Chhijarsi to Ecotech, water entered the houses in three low-lying areas. People were evacuated from their houses. However, the river has not crossed the danger mark anywhere yet”, said Suresh Rao A. Kulkarni, Additional Police Commissioner of Noida.
He also informed that police teams have been deployed at various locations that are at risk. After the flooding in the houses, some people have been shifted to nearby schools and ‘Barat’ houses temporarily until proper arrangements are made. “We are keeping an eye on the water level,” said Kulkarni.
