Delhi-Haryana RapidX Corridor Realignment to Enhance Transport Infrastructure

A Sustainable Strategy for Efficient Land Use and Urban Growth

TOD is a commonly accepted strategy that encourages development along routes used by public transport, resulting in more effective use of available land. With its focus on optimising the use of current infrastructure and streamlining transit networks, it is regarded as a sustainable alternative to urban sprawl. The National Transit Oriented Development policy was unveiled by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in May 2017. It provides states and localities considering TOD as an urban growth strategy with a framework for adoption. This policy describes transit-oriented development (TOD) as a way to integrate land use and transportation planning in order to create sustainable, well-planned urban centres that are connected by first-rate transit networks. The idea has also been thoroughly examined, with a particular emphasis on including real estate development in the vicinity of RRTS stations.
