The development works in Khoda have been adversely affected due to a conflict between the executive officer (EO) and the newly-elected chairperson. According to officials familiar with the situation, the dispute revolves around allegations of the chairperson’s husband interfering in official matters. The EO, Shalini Gupta, lodged a complaint with the state government, claiming that the chairperson, Mohini Sharma, has been refusing to sign important files related to development projects in the area.
Development Works Affected
In her letter dated June 27, Gupta accused Mohini Sharma’s husband, former MLA Amarpal Sharma, of interfering in the operations of the Nagar Palika (local governing body). The chairperson, however, denied these allegations and explained that she could only sign files after verifying the details and progress of the development work. She emphasized that her responsibility was to ensure accountability for taxpayers’ money.
Gupta sent her complaint to the state government and senior officials to inform them about the situation. The lack of the chairperson’s signatures on files has resulted in a halt to development works in Khoda for the past two weeks, as mentioned in Gupta’s letter. Additionally, she stated that pending payments related to various expenses, such as fuel, vehicle repairs, cleaning equipment, and funds received from the Fifteenth Finance Commission, were awaiting the chairperson’s approval.
In summary, the executive officer and the newly-elected chairperson of Khoda are engaged in a dispute over allegations of interference by the chairperson’s husband. This conflict has led to a delay in signing essential files and has hindered the progress of development works in the area.
