Ghaziabad News: After receiving multiple complaints regarding the denial of school admission to the SC/ST children in schools, the District Magistrate has ordered action against such schools and initiate an enquiry. The DM held a meeting with the School Authorities, Parents and the Education officers and it was decided that schools which are not allowing admission to the children belonging to SC/ ST must be held accountable and case should be registered against them. According to reports, many schools were denying admissions to children belonging to the SC/ST groups.
Provisions Under the Right to Education Act:
- Free and Compulsory Education to all Children between 6-14 years of age.
- No Child can be held back until he/ she completes Elementary Education
- Supreme Court directs all Schools including Private ones to give free education to students from economically backward classes from class 1 till they reach 14 yrs.
- Private Schools must keep 25% Quota for the Economically Backward Child.
‘Many Parents show Fake Income Certificates’
Many Public school officials claim that many a times they receive fake income certificates from the Parent in order to get admission. The Process to cross verify the certificates is time consuming. They also say that they will be able to admit students of their wards and not outside the ward.
‘School and Parents will be held accountable if found guilty’
Many parents raised the issue that most of the schools do not take admissions in the middle classes, they say that they can only admit a child from the beginning not in any other class. DM also said that guilty won’t be spared.
