Ghaziabad News: Ground Water reduction in 4 blocks of the city raises serious concerns. The four blocks of the city has witnessed a serious reduction in the Ground water level. These blocks are Ghaziabad city, Loni, Rajapur and Bhojpur.

BhojPur Block- 13.89 meters below ground level

Rajapur Block-8 meters below ground level

Loni Block-20.95-24.16 meters below ground level

RajaPur Block comes under the worst hit category

The situation of the Murad Nagar is still better. According to the Report released by the Ground water Department, these four areas has been labeled in the ‘worst hit’ category are Loni, Rajapur, Bhojpur & Ghaziabad. The ‘worst hit’ category indicates that the Ground water has declined fast in these areas.

Government Planning to build Rain-Harvesting Units

However experts feel that if this goes on, then people might have to face acute shortage as more than half of the houses have Borings and they are dependent on the Ground Water for House Chores. The authorities must look into the matter seriously and take preventive steps. The Government is also planning to build some Rain Harvesting Units in the Government Buildings and schools to save water.
