Ghaziabad News: The first heavy rainfall of the season has cast a big mark all over the NCR. In Ghaziabad heavy rains has caused enormous waterlogging situation in low-lying areas. Areas like Tronica City and Daulat Nagar have developed flood like situations. In some areas water level high as 10-12 feet. On Sunday, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued 12 people from Tronica City in Ghaziabad. Schools in Ghaziabad will remain closed till July 15.
Rescue operation in Tron City
The NDRF team carried out rescue operations to pull people out to safety from their locality which had been overrun by floodwater.
At least 12 people were rescued by the NDRF team in its initial operation while 25 people remain trapped in Daulat Nagar during the evacuation being conducted at night. The NDRF unit was assisted by local administration and state authorities in the rescue operation.
In view of the bad weather forecast for coming days as well, NDRF has placed four emergency teams spread throughout the city. The Ghaziabad NDRF battalion is placed at high alert in at Regional Response Centers of Noida, R.K Puram, Dwarka and Jodhpur Hospital.
Schools to remain closed
Schools will be closed for students in many parts of Delhi-NCR for July 10. In Ghaziabad schools will be shut till till July 15 amid continuous heavy rainfall. “In view of the heavy rains, schools in Ghaziabad will remain closed,” Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, District Education Officer, Ghaziabad said on Sunday.
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has given instructions for schools to remain closed in Gautam Budh Nagar for classes first to 12 on July 10.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also announced decision to close schools in view of prevailing bad weather conditions. “In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi for the last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow,” Kejriwal tweeted on Sunday.
