Greater Noida News: In a significant move to improve urban connectivity, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the extension of the Aqua Line Metro. The new extension aims to make the Metro accessible to sectors along the Noida-Greater Noida and Yamuna expressways. This 11.5 km corridor, stretching from Sector 142 to the Botanical Garden station, is set to facilitate connections to Delhi Metro’s Blue and Magenta lines, enhancing the overall transportation network.
Project Details and Costs
The extension project is expected to cost Rs 2,254 crore and will include eight new stations. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has highlighted that this Cabinet approval “marks a pivotal step” in the ongoing development of Noida’s Metro network. The new corridor aims to meet the growing demand for efficient and reliable public transportation, which is critical as Noida continues to expand.
Significant Step Forward
Lokesh M, the managing director of NMRC, described the state cabinet’s nod as a “significant step” towards ensuring “seamless public transportation” for Noida residents. The NMRC has emphasized that the extended Aqua Line will bring substantial benefits to the region, promoting easier and faster commutes for residents and office-goers.
Noida Metro Aqua Line Extension: Stations and Benefits
As Noida develops along the Yamuna Expressway, the need for improved Metro connectivity has been a long-standing demand from both residents and office workers. The newly approved route will include stations at Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Noida Authority Office in Sector 96, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College.
This extension is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion, making it a boon for daily commuters and enhancing the overall quality of life in the region. With this strategic infrastructure development, Noida moves a step closer to becoming a more connected and accessible city.
