Gujarat elections 2022: Two paramilitary personnel were killed and two others were injured in a terrible incident just a few days before the Gujarat assembly elections of 2022.
After a fellow CRPF member fired on them while they were working the polls, two of the jawans were murdered.
According to A M Sharma, the Porbandar collector and district election officer, the jawans involved in the event are from the CRPF’s Manipur unit. The incident happened in a village close to the district of Porbandar, where members of the CRPF were stationed for Gujarat poll duties.
Further inquiries into the incident are presently being conducted because it is yet unknown why the CRPF jawan fired on his colleagues. The jawans were residing in a cyclone shelter in the village of Tukda Gosa, around 25 km from Porbandar.
The jawans belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which the Election Commission had sent here in advance of the Gujarat Assembly elections the following month, the Porbandar Collector had earlier claimed. The Porbandar district’s first round of voting will take place on December 1.
“A jawan opened fire from his assault rifle on his colleagues over some unknown issue on Saturday evening. While two jawans died on the spot, two others were injured. One of them received a bullet injury in his stomach and the other was hit on his leg,” the collector had said.

According to a press statement from the police, the suspect is a rifleman constable with the Manipur SAP’s 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion. With his AK-47 weapon, he started firing on other police officers, killing two jawans, according to reports from PTI.
According to the report, one of the injured police officers is a member of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion and the other of the 4th IRB.

The Gujarat assembly elections 2022 are set to take place in two phases on December 1 and 5, and the results for the same will be declared on December 8, as per the Election Commission of India.
