Naroda Gam Massacre Case: In the Roda village riots, 69 suspects were cleared, including former ministers Maya Kodnani, Babu Bajrangi, and Jaideep Patel. On April 20, the Gujarat Special Court rendered a decision in this case. In this massacre, 11 individuals perished. When the Sabarmati Express was returning from Ayodhya on February 27, 2002, numerous passengers were burned alive near Godhra, Gujarat, by pouring fuel inside the compartment.

Gujarat bandh was declared on February 28, 2002, in response. In the meantime, there were racial disturbances all over Gujarat, including Ahmedabad. On February 28, during these riots, 11 persons are said to have been burned alive both inside and outside Naroda village. 18 of the 86 accused—including former BJP MLA Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi—passed away over the course of the trial. On February 28, 2002, rioting broke out in Ahmedabad’s Naroda Village neighbourhood, one day after the Godhra train burning event that claimed the lives of 58 travellers from Ayodhya.

The defendants are charged under IPC sections
In the Naroda Gramme case, the defendants are charged under IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to kill), 143 (illegal assembly), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with lethal weapons), and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The trial was in progress.
