Gujarat to Introduce India’s First Submarine Tourism Experience, Set to Launch in Dwarka

Gujarat

Submarine tourism in India: The first submarine tourism in India is about to be launched by the Gujarat government. In an effort to investigate the marine life around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city with mythological significance in the Hindu religion, it has partnered with the Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL).

Inspired by Titanic Expedition

The project is similar to the submersible Titanic expedition, which made headlines recently when one of its ships tragically imploded in the Atlantic Ocean. Before Diwali in 2024, the tourism facility is probably going to be operational. It will make it possible for visitors to explore the marine life surrounding the island by plunging 100 metres below the surface in a submarine. Mythological texts claim that the location contains a submerged city that was created by Lord Krishna.

Official Unveiling at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit

According to the Times of India, an official project announcement will be made at the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. It is estimated that the submarine will weigh about 35 tonnes and be able to accommodate 30 passengers. 24 visitors will be forced to sit in two rows next to window seats at the same time so they can easily enjoy the interior view.

Distinctive Project Vision

According to Saurabh Pardhi, managing director of Gujarat Tourism, in an interview with India Today, it’s a “different project” that will significantly increase traveller traffic in the area. Every year, a large number of tourists flock to Dwarka because of its religious significance. One of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites is the well-known Dwarkadhish Temple.
