Gujarat: A businesswoman and six other people are facing charges by the Morbi police in Gujarat for allegedly beating up a Dalit worker and making him put her shoes in his mouth in order to get his unpaid salary. Early in October, Vibhuti Patel, the proprietor of Raniba Industries Pvt. Ltd., hired 21-year-old Dalit man Nilesh Dalsaniya, paying him Rs 12,000 a month. But on October 18, his contract was suddenly cancelled, according to India Today.
Communication Breakdown over Unpaid Salary
Patel stopped talking after Dalsaniya asked for his pay for the 16 days he had worked. He did not give a clear response. Om Patel, Vibhuti Patel’s brother, and his associates are accused of attacking Dalsaniya, his brother, and a neighbour on Wednesday night when they went to her workplace.
Alleged Physical Assault by Businesswoman
According to the police report, Vibhuti Patel also gave Dalsaniya a slap before leading him to the commercial complex’s terrace, where he was attacked physically by other staff members. The FIR claims that Parikshit Patel, Om Patel, and other unidentified individuals beat Dalsaniya with belts and kicked and punched her.
Forced Apology with Humiliation
Dalsaniya claims that Vibhuti Patel made her put her shoes in his mouth so that he would apologise for asking for his pay. According to the FIR, she also threatened to hurt him if he went back to the Ravapar Crossroads area. In addition, the accused recorded the event and forced Dalsaniya to admit on camera that he had visited Vibhuti’s office in order to demand money. The Dalit man was brought to Morbi Civil Hospital for treatment after the assault.
Serious Charges Filed
“All the accused face charges of assault, criminal intimidation, rioting, and relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,” Pratipalsinh Zala, Deputy Superintendent of Police (SC/ST Cell) said. Zala added that the police searched each accused person’s home after receiving the complaint, but they turned up nothing. He also mentioned that three different teams have been put together to find them.
