Haryana Violence: On Tuesday, a nine-member Congress delegation on its way to visit violence-hit villages in Haryana’s Nuh district was stopped by State Police near Rewasan Village. This comes after police previously denied the group permission to visit, citing Section 144 enforcement, according to ANI.

Party MP Deepender Hooda and state party chairman Udai Bhan are among those on the delegation. Hooda stated that the delegation wishes to visit Nuh, but there is a large police presence in the area.

“Our delegation wants to visit Nuh City, Nalhar Mandir and markets. We want to speak to everyone…There is a lot of Police deployment. Had this been done earlier, there would not have been the clash..,” he added.

After the nine member Congress delegation decided to visit Nuh district, SP Nuh, Narendra Bijarniya said, “The permission has been denied because section 144 has been imposed in the district. The administration is making all efforts to help the victims…”

“The work of the administration will be increased if a political visit takes place…The situation is heading towards complete normalcy. To prevent any kind of disruption, we are requesting them to arrange their visit after the situation turns completely normal,” he further told the news agency ANI.

As per a statement, “The purpose of this visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area and find out the truth.” Notably, the Congress party has called for a judicial investigation into the Nuh violence under the supervision of a high court judge.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda argued that if the BJP-JJP administration had taken “proper steps” on time and taken the sensitivity of the subject seriously, the violence would not have occurred.

He asserted that the administration had been a “complete failure” in fulfilling its duties.
