Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana, resigned on Tuesday due to problems within the ruling group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). The trouble came just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, leading Khattar to give his resignation letter and cabinet to the Haryana governor.
The Trouble
The BJP and JJP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, couldn’t agree on how to share seats for the coming Lok Sabha polls. This disagreement caused tension, making Khattar decide to resign.
Trying to Stay Afloat
Independent MLA Nayan Pal Rawat mentioned that the alliance is in a bad state, but other independent MLAs supporting Khattar’s government believe it can still continue.
Leadership Meetings
Both the BJP and JJP leaders called meetings with their MLAs to talk about the situation. Khattar plans to meet all BJP ministers before these discussions.
Important BJP leaders, like Union Minister Arjun Munda and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, came to the state to manage things. However, they haven’t said much about what’s going to happen next.
